Burleigh’s Hosts Gin Event at The Griffin Inn

Burleigh’s Gin, the name on everyone’s lips right now (quite literally), took over The Griffin Inn in Swithland recently for an extra special Gin Showcase event.

Proudly distilled in Nanpantan, Leicestershire, Burleigh’s ticket-only event at The Griffin was held in their Old Stables, which recently benefited from a major refurbishment to create a stunning multi-purpose entertainment space.

Presided over by Master Distiller, Jamie Baxter, guests were taken on a gin-soaked tour of gin past and present with The Griffin Inn pairing the five gins of Burleigh’s with a gin-infused and inspired food menu.  Gin-ius.

Over the course of the 3-hour event, Jamie demonstrated how the laws of distilling have changed over the years, which has caused the revitalisation in craft gins, as we know them today.  He explained the botanical ranges and blends within the gins, which lead to the story of how the gin got its name: Burleigh Wood, which is adjacent to the distillery, is where Jamie first came across Silver Birch, dandelion & burdock, elderberry and iris.  There were the botanicals that went on to inspire the first recipe – and it seemed only fitting that this ancient Leicestershire woodland gave its name to the gin.

This slick evening, created by the Griffin’s in-house events team, is just one of a calendar of events taking place over the coming months and raised funds for local charity, The Jake McCarthy Foundation, which is a Rothley-based charity committed to raising money and awareness for Brain Tumour research.
