Leicester Tigers and Breedon Group mark partnership renewal with The Breedon Stand

Leicester Tigers and construction giants Breedon Group unveiled The Breedon Stand at Welford Road stadium last weekend celebrating the organisations new three-year commercial deal.

The UK’s largest independent construction materials group, whose head offices are based in North Leicestershire, have been an official partner for England’s most successful rugby club for the past two seasons.

The new deal sees the stadium’s South Stand – which was first built in the 1920’s – branded by the Breedon Group alongside kit sponsorship, player appearances and image rights until the 2021/22 campaign.

Unveiled ahead of Leicester Tigers East Midlands derby match against Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership, The Breedon Stand is the stadium’s oldest stand and accommodates 8,500 supporters split between bench seating and terrace standing.

Backing on to Aylestone Walk and the Crumbie car park, the stand also houses the playing changing rooms and medical room, the ABC Bar and Crumbie Lounge bar areas as well as the media, grounds and maintenance facilities.

Leicester Tigers commercial director Andrea Pinchen said: “For all associated with the club, The Breedon Stand represents the strong history, heritage and success of this club. Throughout the stadium’s redevelopment in recent years, the traditions of the stand have remained – something the players and fans are keen to uphold.

“Breedon Group and Leicester Tigers share a lot of the same values and a huge thanks to Breedon Group chief executive Pat Ward and his team for their hard work in the renewal process. All at the club are looking forward to a prosperous and successful future working with Breedon for years to come.”

Breedon Group chief executive Pat Ward added: “It is a privilege to be strengthening our partnership with the country’s premier rugby club.  We are delighted to support the renewal of The Breedon Stand and look forward to seeing Tigers fans celebrate many home victories there.

“Breedon and Tigers have a great deal in common.  We are both ambitious and competitive and believe that you can only achieve your goals by working together as a collaborative and mutually supportive team.  In that spirit, we are very much looking forward to working with the club and sharing in its future successes.”

As well as both being successful Leicestershire-based businesses, the company’s executive chairman Peter Tom CBE is a former Leicester Tigers player and has served as the club’s chairman for 25 years.

Tigers welcomed a sell-out crowd of 25,849 to Welford Road for last weekend’s Aviva Premiership fixture  with the club’s final scheduled home match of the season against Newcastle Falcon (April 27, 7.45pm).
