Angelo Milas: one of the newly crowned ‘Faces of Solihull’ competition

Meet the two teenagers crowned the ‘Faces of Solihull’ after a borough-wide search for the models of the future.

Angelo Millas and Ellie Ryan were selected from a shortlist of seven after more than 50 people attended open casting sessions during Solihull’s first ever Fashion Week in April.

Angelo, aged 18, and Ellie, 17, took part in a fashion shoot for the next edition of Solihull BID’s InSolihull magazine as part of their prize. Birmingham-based fashion and beauty photographer Garazi Gardner of the Garazi agency took these stunning images of the two models.

The duo were chosen by judges Melanie Palmer, Executive Director, Solihull BID; Alan Sharman, the Alan Sharman Agency;  Jenny Eason, founder, Midlands Fashion Awards, and Amy Hubbard, Marketing Assistant, Solihull BID.

Ellie is studying A-Levels at Heart of England School and enjoys shopping and socialising.

Angelo, who attends Solihull Sixth-Form College where he is studying business, buys and sells clothing on eBay to earn extra income. In his spare time he enjoys going to the gym and football.  Angelo has never modelled before but said he would consider a career in the industry if the opportunity came up.

Solihull Fashion Week was supported by Mell Square Shopping Centre and John Lewis.  It featured a variety of Spring/Summer style insights, hair demos, talks and catwalk displays across the town centre and Ramada Hotel.

Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke kicked-off the town centre-wide activity by hosting a VIP fashion show themed around a Great British Summer.

Solihull BID Executive Director Melanie Palmer, who chaired the model search judging panel, said: “This was a really tough decision and sparked healthy debate among judges. The images of Ellie and Angelo for InSolihull magazine are fantastic and I’m sure a career in modelling awaits the two.”
