A Ball to be held in aid of Warwick based charity Molly Olly’s Wishes

A BALL in aid of a charity that supports children with terminal and life-threatening illnesses, is being held in Birmingham’s Park Regis Hotel next month.

Tickets for the event, in the Sky Lounge, include a drinks reception, three-course dinner and live disco. There will also be a fundraising auction and raffle with prizes donated by local businesses as well as a sweets table and photo booth.

Proceeds will go to Molly Olly’s Wishes, a Warwick-based charity launched by Rachel and Tim Ollerenshaw in 2011 following the death of their daughter Molly from a rare kidney cancer.

During her illness, which was first diagnosed when she was just three, Molly joined with the CLIC Sargent Youth Advisory Group to help improve the lives of children with cancer and in 2010, narrated an Ardmann Studios short animated film designed as a guide for coping with radiotherapy. It is widely used today in the UK and overseas to help improve the patient experience.

Having gained its charity status in 2012, the charity has so far helped more than 1,500 children from newborn to age 18 by granting individual wishes. They may take the form of equipment to help a child live day to day with their condition; an alternative therapy treatment to complement traditional medicine, or even a special occasion or day out.

Mascot of the charity is a therapeutic toy lion called Olly The Brave who has his own Hickman line and a detachable mane that helps to explain and normalise the hair loss that comes with many types of chemotherapy. These form part of an Olly the Brave pack that has now been handed out to 40 hospitals across the UK along with a book Olly The Brave And The Wigglys.

The ball will be held on Friday 22nd March with arrival any time from 6pm and dinner at 7.30pm. The tickets are £35pp and are available from Rachel Ollerenshaw at: [email protected]
