National Express is urging local employers to follow them and join the Living Wage movement to transform the city and boost the local economy.
The leading transport provider has joined forces with the Living Wage Foundation and Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce to host an event at Innovation Birmingham at Aston University from 5pm on Monday 14 October when Birmingham-based employers can find out about how becoming Living Wage Foundation accredited can benefit them.
Chris Hardy, Managing Director of National Express UK Coach, will be discussing the impact of paying the real Living Wage on productivity, staff morale, sickness and retention, at the event.
Chris said: “We were the first private transport group to commit to the real Living Wage and we want to encourage local employers to follow suit and help boost the city’s economy.
“Almost 600 National Express employees have benefited from our commitment to the real Living Wage that meets the actual cost of living, not just the statutory minimum. This uplift adds up to over £2.3 million which has gone back into our workers’ pockets.
Chris will be joined by fellow Living Wage employers, Fiona Hunter, Head of People at Brewdog and Julie Abraham, CEO of Richer Sounds, who will also be sharing their experience.
Guests can also experience BrewDog’s Craft Beer School on the night, where they can learn about the brewing process and take part in some beer tasting.
