Children and staff cancelled school for the day in favour of celebrating the impending nuptials of Prince Harry and Megan Markle.

An army of Royal wedding enthusiasts came to school dressed head to toe in red, white and blue with huge smiles on their faces.

They kicked off the day with their annual Inter-House Music competition where the theme was ‘love and marriage’.

By lunch time, Royal wedding celebrations were in full swing as the children tucked into a barbeque lunch, topped off with union jack cupcakes and ice lollies for dessert.

The entire school gathered together to sing the national anthem before they conga-ed off for fun and games on the playing fields.

Mrs Anthony, Head of Values at Hallfield School, said: “It was a wonderful day full of lots of laughter. Everyone came together to celebrate the wedding in a superb fashion and had a fabulous time. What better reason is there to cancel lessons for the day?”

“I’d like to thank our fantastic groundsmen for setting everything up for the big day and a huge thank you to those in the Parent Teacher Association who came and helped out.”

Not to be outdone, the little children at Hallfieldfirst had a party of their own where they celebrated the big day in their own royal fashion.
