Michelin Guide 2017 Recommends Leicester Restaurant 34 Windsor St
34 Windsor St Restaurant & Cocktail Bar in Burbage have, for the second year running, been acknowledged in the prestigious Michelin guide 2017 as a recommended restaurant, making them one of just a few restaurants in Leicestershire in 2016 to join the catering hall of fame – and one of just a handful of eateries in the East Midlands to receive the accolade.
34 Windsor St is owner Zeffy Thompson’s creation of an array of ideas born from her own personal taste and experiences from around the world. Setting up in Burbage in 2013, Zeffy’s aim was to create a restaurant and cocktail bar that injected a touch of glamour into the culinary experience.
Since 2013, the restaurant has worked tirelessly within the local community and local schools, encouraging children to learn about food and raising much-needed funds for charity. They have also continued to innovate with a constantly refreshed menu and customer experience.
Michelin is the only international system for testing and grading haute cuisine and its team of 70 European inspectors, who visit restaurants anonymously have unrivalled experience of dining out. Chefs and restauranteurs consider the guide the most important for building a reputation and attracting customers. The restaurants are reviewed regularly to ensure that Michelin standards are kept up to date, and to see whether they’re eligible to move to the next stage – a Michelin star!
On being recommended by Michelin, Zeffy Thompson said; ‘The Michelin Guide is one of the most respected restaurant guides in the world, so to be included as one of their 2017 recommended restaurants, is an enormous accolade for us. We work tirelessly to make the restaurant and the food the very best we can, so to be recognized in such a way is humbling”.
On 34 Windsor Street, the Michelin Guide Inspectors have said; ‘this stylish modern restaurant is well-run by an experienced, hands-on owner. It has a relaxed feel and a smart chill-out terrace to the rear. Cooking is also contemporary; the 8 course tasting menu shows the kitchen’s ambition.’
Their ethos is simple: ‘to create the best experience we can by people for people with a huge and insatiable passion for great food, wine and an overall great time.’
