Cat charity is on the prowl for Volunteers in Leicestershire

A charity has launched an appeal throughout Leicestershire to find kind-hearted people who can play a vital role in helping cats get back on their paws.

Cats Protection is calling for volunteer fosterers to come forward and offer temporary homes to unwanted and abandoned cats in the region.

Cat fostering involves looking after cats in your own home until a new owner is found and, according to the charity, is incredibly important and rewarding.

“Fostering cats is a vital role within Cats Protection and is also a great way to meet new friends, both human and feline” explained Rob Hall, Cats Protection’s Area Branch Development Manager.

“No special equipment is needed but fosterers need to have either a spare room or an area in their garden where a cat pen can be housed. We provide plenty of support and all out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.”

As well as finding new homes for unwanted and abandoned cats, the charity also offers cat care advice to the public and can help towards the cost of neutering.
