Ed Byrne, Rhod Gilbert and Stewart Lee Amongst Names Announced for Leicester Comedy Festival 2020

Leicester Comedy Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary

Ed Byrne, Stewart Lee, Milton Jones, Fascinating Aida, Comedy Club 4 Kids, Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Rhod Gilbert, The UK Pun Championships and Phil Wang have all been announced as appearing as part of Leicester Comedy Festival 2020.  Organisers of the annual festival have announced these early shows for the 2020 event which will take place from 5-23 February.

In addition, the main Leicester Comedy Festival’s 2020 Gala Preview Show will take place at De Montfort Hall on Friday 10th January.  The show will feature 8 comedians who will be performing as part of the main festival when it takes place in February.  The main festival, the biggest comedy festival in Europe, will include hundreds of shows in over 70 venues, and the Gala Preview Show is a taste of what’s to come and is the official launch show for the festival.  Previous acts at the preview show have included Jimmy Carr, Sarah Millican, Jenny Éclair and Barry Cryer and the line-up for 2020 will be announced later this year.

The 2019 festival was the biggest event produced since it started in 1994, with over 135,000 people attending shows across Leicester & Leicestershire.  Highlights of the 2019 festival included exclusive Q&A’s with Jo Brand and Tom Allen, The UK Pun Championships and performances by Johnny Vegas, Zoe Lyons, Jason Manford, Nish Kumar, Dave Gorman, Henning Wehn, Jason Byrne, Paul Sinha, Rich Hall, Shazia Mirza, Hal Cruttenden and Gary Delaney and many, many more.
