Fans and families enjoy weekend of rugby with Leicester Tigers

A sell-out crowd of 25,849 made the visit to Welford Road as a late George Ford penalty snatched a win for Tigers over rivals Wasps to cap off a super weekend of rugby action.

On Saturday, more than 1,000 Leicester Tigers supporters enjoyed a morning to remember watching the first team train at Welford Road before getting the chance to meet the stars.

After the training session, the players and head coach Matt O’Connor headed over to pose for photos and sign shirts, rugby balls, flags and posters for fans.’

Sunday marked the visit of old rival Wasps to Welford Road and welcomed a full-house as supporters enjoyed live music and entrainment from local groups Mansfield Avenue and the Gabhru Panjab Debhangra dancers on the plaza before kick-off.

Club mascot Welford welcomed fans to the ground and there were huge inflatable games plus an Easter-egg hunt and prizes for Junior Tigers Club members.

There was plenty going on ahead of kick-off at Welford Road supporters also had the opportunity to have their photos taken with the Aviva Premiership trophy on the plaza, whilst six U10s rugby teams took part in the Prima Cup Finals festival on the Welford Road pitch ahead of kick-off.

Tigers welcomed 11 youth teams onto the pitch at half-time for a photo as part of their matchday coaching clinic and lucky Tigers Times season ticket holders took part in the guard of honour as the players made their way onto the pitch.

The club also welcomed the league-winning Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby team who were introduced to the crowd acknowledging the clubs first ever BT Super Series Division One league title win.

After the final whistle, resident band Rock Bottom entertained fans in the Final Whistle Bar in the Holland & Barrett Stand.
