Families across Leicester are invited to attend a free event to celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, at Beaumont Shopping Centre this weekend.
From 11am to 5pm on Saturday 3rd November, shoppers can take advantage of free henna tattooing and tuck into a range of savoury Diwali snacks, provided by local company Taste Inc.
There will be live music from Bhangra bands throughout the day, playing a mix of Bollywood music and Bhangra-inspired pop classics, plus performances from local dance group Socharo.
For young families, there will be a craft station outside Poundstretcher, where little ones can have a go at creating their own colourful tea light holders to take away for free.
Simon Revill, centre manager at Beaumont Shopping Centre, said: “Diwali is a special time for thousands of people across Leicester, so we’re really pleased to offer an event for the whole community to enjoy.
“Our Diwali festival is going to be the perfect chance for families to come together to celebrate the festival of lights and we hope they make the most of all the free entertainment, activities and treats on offer.”
