Leicester Homelessness Charity Looking For Volunteers

Leicester-based homelessness charity, The Bridge – Homelessness to Hope relies on volunteers to provide its guests with support services including mentoring, health and wellbeing, and almost 10,000 meals each year.

The charity runs on a small team of part- and full-time staff, and needs as many volunteers as possible to achieve its goals of supporting the homeless community in Leicester. It is looking for people who have some spare time and are looking for rewarding voluntary work.

Volunteers can provide life-changing support to the homeless guests visiting the centre. No previous experience is necessary, just good listening skills, a passion to help and a sincere desire to help and support others.

Mikey, a volunteer for the last 10 years said: “I absolutely love working for The Bridge – Homelessness to Hope. I love the satisfaction I get from helping people and solving problems, whether it’s finding them a pair of shoes that fit, making them a coffee on a cold day or finding some support that they didn’t know was available to them – potentially changing their lives. The charity is a big friendly family, and I love being a part of it.”

Operations Manager, Stuart Anthony added: “This is a great opportunity to do something worthwhile and to develop your skills and experience at the same time. If you are interested and would like to make a real difference to someone’s life, please get in touch.  Any time you can give would be more than welcome.”
