Leicester’s Unsung Heroes To Be Celebrated At Inaugural Charity Awards

Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) is calling for people to nominate the individuals and voluntary organisations that have made a difference in 2019 for its inaugural Voluntary Awards Leicester & Leicestershire (VALL’s).

The charity, which is based in Leicester city but supports organisations and individuals across the city and county, will be showcasing the stars of the voluntary sector across Leicester and Leicestershire in its first awards ceremony, hosted at the Morningside Arena on the 5th November.

With thousands of voluntary organisations across the city and county, VAL wanted to find a way to recognise the important role that is played by them, and the vital services they provide within their communities.

There are many activities that could be recognised at the VALL’s, from individual volunteers who provide fresh flowers for the local church each Sunday or charity organisations that support young adults on their journey to further education.

Kevin Allen-Khimani, Executive Manager – Public Sector Contracts and Projects at VAL commented: “There are a huge number of unsung heroes in this sector and we wanted the awards to give these individuals and organisations the recognition they deserve. We want to encourage asmany people as possible to nominate and have made the process as easy as possible in order to accommodate this.

“Nobody has to worry about which category their nominee should go into, just submit via the website, email us or pop in to fill in one of the forms at our HQ in Leicester city centre and the VAL team will ensure it ends up in the right place!”

The VALL’s are sponsored by Morningside Pharmaceuticals Ltd, which manufactures and suppliers quality Generic and Branded medicines to the UK and International markets.

Dr Nik Kotecha OBE, Morningside’s Chief Executive, said: “Morningside are delighted to be the headline sponsor of the awards because they celebrate the incredible contribution that charities are making in Leicester and Leicestershire.

“Our charities make a huge contribution to our communities but often their great work goes unrecognised. We hope the recognition provided by these awards will help raise awareness of their work, enhance their fundraising potential, lead to more business partnerships and enable them to continue to benefit the communities they serve.”
