Local Detective Constable Launches New Business
A Detective Constable has launched a new business in Leicester, which will enable children and adults to try their hand at crime scene investigations.
Catherine Thompson, who has spent 12 years investigating crime in the police service, will be delivering these detective themed events from her business – The Detective Project Leicester – across an area covering Leicester City, Loughborough and Melton Mowbray.
In her new role, Catherine will be sharing her wealth of authentic knowledge and expertise through fun, science-based events, with participants enjoying hands-on challenges involving skeletons, fingerprinting, interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence. Real life forensic techniques will be taught and demonstrated through detective parties, school and educational workshops and corporate team-building days.
Catherine said, “I’m really looking forward to launching my business and getting stuck into my new role. This venture feels like the perfect next step for me as it combines my detective experience with my love of meeting new people.”
She added “I’ve spent many years in a very serious job role and to be able to put the fun back into forensic work and inspire young minds will be extremely rewarding for me.”

The Detective Project was was founded in 2010 by Jenny Williams, an experienced former detective in the Metropolitan Police and Avon & Somerset Constabulary.
Jenny saw a business opportunity to use her skills to offer something new and unique. These CSI-themed events captured the imaginations of budding young detectives and adults alike.
The Detective Project has since become a nationwide brand, now operating in Bristol, Wessex, South Essex, Harrogate, Sussex and now Leicester.
