Castle Fine Art

On now till 1st October, Pakpoom Silaphan Exhibition.

The latest collection by contemporary artist, Pakpoom Silaphan, is on display at Castle Fine Art in the Mailbox from now until Sunday 1st October.

Brought up in a rural Thai community, Pakpoom’s early access to the Western world came from the advertising of lucrative brands and commercial logos.

His art demonstrates an awareness of other cultures and environments, made universally relevant through internationally recognised symbols such as those of Pepsi and Coke. This use of mass consumerism is teamed with artistic influences from the likes of Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali to bridge the gap between East and West.

Birmingham Hippodrome

The REP

29th Sept – 7th Oct, I Knew You.

Angela is edging closer to retirement. Then it will just be her, her cat and ready meals for one. Her son Nathan is struggling with being a stay-at-home dad. It’s not as if he’s had a role model. The closest he’s got to his dad in twenty years was a Google search.

When Angela has a chance encounter with ‘her Patrick’, she is torn about whether or not to introduce him to the son he walked out on and the grandson he’s never met. But Patrick has some news that may force her to decide.

The Belgrade Theatre.

27th Sept – 30th Sept, Freeman

Freeman is inspired by the true story of William Freeman, a black man who was put on trial in 19th Century New York, and the first case to raise ‘insanity’ as a defence in America.

The story of William Freeman is used as a platform to explore the relationships between people of colour, the criminal justice system, and mental health; spanning from segregated 1846 America right up to the death of Sarah Reed in the UK in 2016.

Strictly Arts’ stunning mix of high-energy physical theatre, a cappella singing, humour and powerful drama, creates an extraordinarily moving and affecting experience for audiences.

Killer Queen have been performing their tribute to Queen’s concert since 1993. Their expert musicianship, extraordinary energy and accurate portrayal of the world’s greatest live band have rightfully earned Killer Queen the title of Queen tribute royalty.

Thrilling sell-out audiences across the globe from the UK to Moscow and in 2016 their first tour of USA, *Killer Queen* recreates the high energy, powerful phenomenon that was Queen live.

Fronted by Patrick Myers as Freddie Mercury, Time Out described Patrick’s resemblance to Freddie Mercury as “Spooky,” his uncanny likeness was further proven when he recorded a number one hit single singing as Freddie Mercury on Fat Boy Slim’s record ‘The Real Life!’
