200 Degrees Coffee is breathing fresh air into lunch time

200 Degrees Coffee is fast becoming one of the largest, independent, artisan roasters and coffee houses in the region. With sites in Nottingham, Birmingham and the newest addition to the midlands in Leicester not only serving incredible coffee but they also change their lunch menus on a weekly basis. Our own coffee and food lover Lilith Hunt-Sheppard went along to try their lunch offering for herself.

Working in the city, lunches can become repetitive, especially if pushed for time. So when I heard that 200 Degrees coffee have designed their lunches with city workers in mind, I had to give it try.

I’d already visited 200 Degrees for coffee and was impressed by the incredible interior and warm service. Situated on Leicester’s Market Street in the former Lumber’s Jewellers, 200 Degrees Coffee takes you straight out the city and into a hidden haven. The clientele is eclectic with people of all ages relaxing, working and chatting making for a buzzy atmosphere.

As I was visiting in my lunch hour I delved straight into the menu and selected the sweet sautéed mushrooms, chilli jelly, spinach, smoked cheddar and pepper sandwich with a beetroot and fennel salad on the side. Within what seemed like a moment my Macchiato was being poured, my sandwich was being prepared, my salad dressed and it was all delivered to my table.

Beautifully presented and wrapped like a present, the combination of flavours worked incredibly well together. The smoked cheddar was melted just enough that I could tuck in straight away without burning my mouth – a good thing when you’re on your lunch break and short of time.

200 Degrees coffee offers lunchtime diners the opportunity to pack in their pack lunches and ditch the daily bore of supermarket sandwiches with a menu and a venue that’s perfect for an express bite, a catch up with friends, a lunch date with colleagues or a business lunch. We can’t wait to see what’s next on the menu!
