Acclaimed artist Stephen Simpson launches exhibition in Solihull

Critically acclaimed artist Stephen Simpson will be making a guest appearance at a Solihull gallery this month to unveil ‘Efflorescence’, a newly curated exhibition of his striking work.

Born in Stockton-On-Tees, the abstract painter will be making an appearance at Castle Fine Art, Solihull on Saturday 25th February 2017 from 1pm-4pm.

Stephen’s work draws inspiration from the elemental aspects of nature. Using a truly unique method, his expert use of heavy texture blurs the boundary between 2D and 3D sculpture, resulting in a collection of art that presents an almost ethereal depiction of light, colour and energy. The signature high gloss coat that Stephen adds to his pieces make them dazzle spectacularly in the light.

Drawn to art from an early age, Stephen undertook a degree in Fine Art before accepting an internship and then a full-time position at Christie’s. Four years at the world’s leading auction house provided him with an opportunity to see some treasured works of art and to work with leading specialists in the art world, broadening his knowledge and inspiring him greatly.

The artist – who has been working with the UK’s leading fine art publishers Washington for over 6 years – said:

“The nature of my work is so organic, it sometimes takes a life of its own. Before creating this new body of work I knew I wanted it to be bold with colour but in keeping with my style, which has naturally developed over the last five years. It had to retain the illusion of light in each painting, giving movement and depth.”

Neil Fox- Hammond, Gallery Manager for Castle Fine Art, Solihull – Washington Green Fine Art’s nationwide network of high street galleries – said:

“Boldly conceived and skilfully created, ‘Efflorescence’ is a collection of art that pays homage to the origins of Abstract Impressionism. Stephen’s unconventional application of paint presents his audience with an unmatched floral composition, a theme that has recently become synonymous with Stephen’s art. Every seemingly careless brushstroke has its part to play in the tapestry of his work.”

Stephen Simpson will be presenting his new collection at Castle Fine Art, Solihull, 2 Mell Square, B91 3AY on Saturday 25th February 2017, 1pm-4pm. The exhibition will then be available to view for a further week.

All of Simpson’s pieces can be bought from the exhibition or online: www.castlefineart.com
