Established in 1897, this year Johnsons Jewellers will be celebrating 120 years of selling watches and fine jewellery. Originally set up in the Abbey Green area of Nuneaton before moving to its present location shortly after the war, Johnsons has grown over the years.
The business was officially set up by Harold Johnson in 1897, although records suggest that there were watchmakers in the family prior to this time. Today the business is a far cry from the small shop set up in the front room of the Johnson household and has been expanded over time to include 17 watch brands from some of the finest watch houses around the globe, plus a wealth of diamond jewellery.
Johnsons Jewellers still remains firmly in the hands of the Johnson family. Robert and Pam are still actively involved in the business, with Libby and Catherine their daughters, being mentored to slowly take the helm for the next generation.
“As part of the 120 year anniversary celebrations, we hope to put on an exhibition display in store of old boxes, receipts or anything else that may be found. We often have elderly customers who come in to store to say that they still have the ‘Wedding spoons’ that were given to them when they purchased wedding rings from my Grandfather . Things like this are great memoirs and it’s amazing to think that we have helped create lots of memories through the generations in the local community and beyond.” Libby
With 2 goldsmiths and 1 watchmaker on site, Johnsons are able to carry out all manner of repairs on site without the need to send items away.The workshops are fitted with state of the art equipment, including a laser repair machine which ensures repairs can be taken out swiftly at reasonable costs.
Our senior goldsmith also designs and creates bespoke pieces of jewellery for many clients. If you are set on a certain design which you are just unable to find, then our goldsmith can create that special one off piece.
