A Taste of Latin America Arrives on Temple Street

Las Iguanas has opened the doors of its latest venture, bringing its trademark carnival of Latin American food and culture on Temple Street, Birmingham.

The restaurant and bar opened on Monday 28 August, with a launch event held a few days later giving guests a taste of the new food and drinks menus, as well as a chance to shake things up with a cocktail masterclass.

Already known for its culinary adventure, Las Iguanas is a welcomed addition to the city centre foodie scene, in an ideal location perfectly placed for business lunches, after work drinks, weekend shopping, and special celebrations.

The vibrant restaurant décor reflects the team’s most recent travels to South America, and guests can enjoy an invigorating space that sees comfy booths teamed with a backdrop of sunshine shades of yellow, sky blue and turquoise. Diners can sit back and relax whilst admiring the big bold graphics dancing across the walls, inspired by the colourful selection of street art in Buenos Aires.

The menu at Las Iguanas is developed by a team of passionate foodies who work tirelessly to discover unique flavours and inspiring recipes from across Latin America. The chefs bring these flavours to life in every single dish by using the highest quality, freshest ingredients to create delicious plates packed with bold flavours. Even better, all the food is cooked in house from scratch by the talented chefs.

The new menu additions are no exception – beautiful Bolinhos de Caranguejo – Crab, Prawn and Potato Croquettes will excite the taste buds, whilst the Cuban Sandwich consisting of roasted Pork Belly, Pulled Pork, Emmental Cheese and Ham with Sweet Mustard and Green Pickle Relish is bound to leave you wanting more. If seafood is more your thing, don’t miss the Sea Bass A Lo Macho, a fillet of Sea Bass with Mussels, Crayfish and Prawns in a White Wine, Spinach, Paprika and Cream Sauce; it’s a dish that will definitely have you day dreaming of Brazil’s exotic beaches. For those who prefer the classics; fear not, they are still on the menu to be enjoyed! Sizzling Fajitas are the perfect start to any party, whilst the homemade Chilli Con Carne with rich, chunky beef and black beans will certainly tantalise the taste buds and leave you feeling satisfied but wanting more.

And of course, no journey through Latin America would be complete without a true taste of the sweet life, and that’s where the latest addition to the Las Iguanas dessert menu comes in. As you might have already guessed from its name, the brand new Brazilian Flip Flop is perfect for a September summer, with rich Dulche de Leche topped by Chocolate Brigadeiro and crushed Peanut Brittle finished with salted Dulche de Leche Caramel Ice Cream. Totally indulgent, but totally worth it!

After all that indulgence, you’re going to need a drink to cool down and refresh. Luckily, Las Iguanas has an impressive selection of new drinks that offer something for everyone; a new Chilli Paloma infused with a theatrical plume of Ancho Reyes certainly packs a punch, whilst the new Gin and Juice with the flavours of Colombia makes a majestic splash onto the cocktail menu. In addition, the Lulo and Agave Cooler is the perfect guilt-free creation for those who don’t need a drink to have fun. What’s more, the brand new ‘HOT LIST’ features four exclusive cocktails that change monthly, and selected cocktails on the menu are 2-4-1 all day every day. Don’t forget you can also sample the tastes of Brazil with a Caipirinha or two, made from Las Iguana’s very own Magnifica Cachaça made in sugar cane fields just outside of Rio.

Now open daily from 10am, tantalise your tastebuds at Las Iguanas Temple Street, Birmingham.
