The Acorns Children’s Hospice will from this year be benefitting from the next two years’ worth of fundraising activity by the Birmingham Publicity Association.
The group, which has raised tens of thousands of pounds throughout its almost 90 year history, chooses a local charity every two years to focus their fundraising efforts.
Following a vote by its board members, and since its two year partnership with LoveBrum came to its conclusion at the end of last year where the charity was presented with £16,500, the groups new charity has now stepped in to take the baton.
Money is raised throughout the year from the group, which consists of people working throughout the creative industries in the city and beyond at a number of activities, such as Spring and Christmas lunches and networking mixers.
Natalie Pejovic, Vice Chair of the Birmingham Publicity Association, said: “Each and every one of our members knows that while we have great fun throughout the year, when they pay for their tickets for these events, the money will be going straight to our chosen charity, as we are a not for profit organisation.
“We were invited to Acorns Children’s Hospice to find out more about the work that they have done, and we must admit it moved many of us to tears. We are so proud to be working alongside them right into 2020, so we invite all our members to watch this space to see some of the events we will be hosting to raise money for them.”
Natalia Keene, Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager at Acorns, added: “We’re thrilled that Birmingham Publicity Association has chosen to support Acorns for the next two years.
“Support like this is key to raising awareness of Acorns and vital funds that will enable us to continue our work caring for local children and families. 70% of our income comes from donations and fundraising by local businesses and the community so to have BPA’s backing is fantastic.
“We look forward to supporting BPA with their fundraising efforts over the next two years and developing what I’m sure will be a great partnership,” she added.
Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care to babies, children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions, as well as support for their families.
In the past year, the charity has cared for more than 870 children and supported more than 1,140 families, including those who are bereaved.
Acorns needs to raise £10 million per year to provide its services both from its three hospices, based in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester, and in the home.
The Birmingham Publicity Association aims to unite those working in the creative industries across the West Midlands and is a great way to network and have fun at the same time.
The BPA has existed since the 1930s, supporting the media and creative industries in the region, while raising money for key charities that its members wish to support. Its members include global organisations to sole traders, graduate trainees right up to CEOs and MDs, media owners and agencies, advertising and marketing agencies, digital agencies, PR agencies and freelancers.
