BIRMINGHAM ARTWALL POP UP BY GUCCI ARTIST IN MYTH-BUSTING KLARNA CAMPAIGN

Famous for his collaborations with Gucci, Vogue and Netflix, world-renowned contemporary artist, Ignasi Monreal, has partnered with Klarna to create a series of seven pieces of stunning artwork – each based upon a misconception or myth seen online or in the media about Klarna – and Birmingham is proud home to one of them.  And, we’re sure you’ll agree, it’s a cracker!

The paintings, digitally designed by Ignasi in his studio in Rome, are a mix of classical and contemporary for a 21st Century renaissance feel and you can view it in all it’s two-storey-high glory on the side of the Rose Villa Tavern on Warstone Lane, in the Jewellery Quarter. As you can see, it’s not only beautifully executed – the attention to detail is exquisite – but also features a QR code, so if you hold your phone up to it to photograph it/do a selfie – you know you’ll want to – it links you to the Klarna micro-site, where you can be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes.

With over 14m consumers in the UK, and 13k retail partners, Klarna is now one of the leading Shopping services in the UK.  It has, however, in the past few years, also seen a rise in the number of misconceptions – the downside of getting big, we guess.  Taking a bold and unapologetic approach to the commentators, critics, sceptics and curious, Klarna’s artwork-led campaign retaliates, in a playful way, on some of the commonly-heard myths about the brand, including average age and even the company name.  It’s a bold approach to re-defining the brand and pushing back on some of the myths and false truths in a fabulously inventive and creative way – and we’re very much loving it.
