Birmingham Cancer Support Centre Given A Colourful Makeover

A cancer support centre in Birmingham has unveiled a striking new makeover, with help from Valspar paint and the Pink Ribbon Foundation.

The Birmingham Drop In Cancer Support Centre is part of the HelpHarryHelpOthers Cancer Charity and aims to offer patients every type of support required outside of treatment. Founder, Georgie Moseley, applied to win a free makeover for the venue so that a colourful new look could be given to the wig and bra-fitting rooms.

To create maximum impact, Valspar enlisted the help of award-winning artist and illustrator -Tor Ewen, who travelled from London to create a bespoke mural for the centre, which was then brought to life by a team of volunteers from Valspar. Following the transformation, visitors to the HHHO Birmingham Drop In Cancer Support Centre can now experience treatments in colourful new surroundings to help them feel at ease during difficult times.

Georgie Moseley, Founder, HHHO Birmingham Drop In Cancer Support Centre says: “Our centre offers a ‘home from home’ environment to patients and anyone touched by cancer, so it’s really important we create inviting spaces that make people feel comfortable. Our bra and wig-fitting rooms were in desperate need of a new look, so I jumped at the chance to have Valspar help us achieve this. I absolutely love the results and think the vibrant mix of colour and pattern will really help inspire positivity.”

The rooms were transformed using Valspar’s two exclusive new shades, Pink Ribbon Care and Pink Ribbon Support – which have been created in partnership with the Pink Ribbon Foundation and are available to buy at B&Q. For each can sold, 5% will be donated to the foundation, which supports Breast Cancer charities around the UK.

Jane Ryder, European Marketing Director, Valspar says: “The psychology of colour can have a huge impact when it comes to treatment and recovery, so we were delighted to bring this to life in Georgie’s drop-in support centre. For those dealing with or affected by cancer, we hope this makeover will help them to enjoy a moment of escapism to experience the power of colour.”

Valspar is available exclusively at B&Q stores nationwide.
