Birmingham Pride 2021

Cited as perhaps the ‘Best Pride Ever’ by multiple sources, (i.e., me and all my mates) this year’s Birmingham Pride couldn’t let a pandemic, a postponement and the last-minute cancellation of its headlining act spoil the show – it truly was a corker!

With the biggest Pride Parade in its history showing other UK Prides how to do it, the people of Birmingham flocked to the Smithfield Live Pride Park, nestled right beside the gay village, to enjoy a host of hilarious entertainment from some of the UK’s best drag artists such as Bimini Bon Boulash, Sandra, Baga Chipz and Peppermint as well as stunning live performances from the likes of Sophie Ellis Bextor, Raye, Sister Sledge, Jax Jones, and the surprisingly amazing Boney M!

The fun wasn’t just reserved for Smithfield though with the bars of Hurst Street lining up entertainment, DJs and drinks including a much welcome return from Eden Bar who were shown just how much they’ve been missed as partygoers rushed to their marquee – hurry back home boys your city needs you.

Huge congratulations and thanks to Lawrence Barton and the whole Pride team for putting on a stonker of a celebration. Here’s to the next one!
