If you love the taste of luxury, then you’re probably someone who loves a bit of lobster – one of the most decadent and delicious seafood choices that money can buy. Eating a live lobster is a real event for seafood lovers, a decadent luxury that is hard to find in a landlocked place like the Midlands.
Birmingham has just the place! The new Caffé Di Milano in the Arcadian have unveiled their live lobster tank and it has become a popular attraction for Brummies.
This chic Italian Restaurant is supplied by George Smith Shellfish – a third generation family business who have been supplying restaurants and the good people of Birmingham with high quality, fresh shellfish since 1874.
George Smith has a network of suppliers throughout the UK, mainly operating day boats to ensure sustainable stocks and guaranteeing their customers are eating the best and freshest shellfish on the market; a pledge that has fared them well for 150 years!
But let’s get down to business, what are the best ways to enjoy lobster?
We know the saying “Italians Do It Better’ and Caffe Di Milano have surpassed themselves with their signature seafood platter. Fresh from the lobster tank, it’s ‘tank to table’ in 10 minutes! Served up with lemon and garlic butter on a glorious platter, the humble lobster is a lot more affordable delicacy.
The General Manager said, “The Americans celebrate National Lobster Day in June and I think we should do the same! You can’t get fresher or tastier anywhere else in Birmingham!!”
The team at Caffé di Milano, have created a variety of signature dishes, for everyone to enjoy. For £35 you can get a Whole Lobster in Garlic and Parsley Butter, Chilli, and French Fries; an 8oz Ribeye, Steak and Lobster for 2 people for £50 or the amazing Shellfish Royale, Grilled Giant Prawns, Langoustine, Scallops and Mussels with Garlic Butter for £35.
For those feeling really decadent, enjoy the Seafood Royale for 2 people for £75. Choose this and feed like a King over Lobster, Giant Prawns, Oysters, Langoustine, Crab and Mussels served over crushed ice with Lemon, Tabasco and mignonette.
The General Manager added, “It’s great to see The Arcadian busy again and people coming out to enjoy the sunshine. At Caffe Di Milano we have a passion for traditional Italian cuisine and serve fresh seafood, hand-stretched pizza, authentic pasta, creamy gelato and a selection of Italian patisserie to feed your appetite!’
The Pasticcini Mignon is a particular favourite with the Hippodrome guests who love the selection of mini handmade Italian Pastries and Cannolis filled with Ricotta, Fruits, Chocolate and Cream.
