DESIblitz Literature Festival returns this Autumn.

DESIblitz Literature Festival

The annual literature festival returns this Autumn in Birmingham from 12th-25th November.

DESIblitz will offer a mix of in-person events at The Mac as well as digital sessions. To encourage student attendance and public engagement during these economically challenging times, this diverse festival will feature a unique series of events. They will be completely free to attend.

DESIblitz Literature Festival is the UK’s only book festival dedicated to celebrating the work of the UK’s leading British South Asian literary talent.

This event hopes to encourage more young British South Asians to become published authors or work in the publishing industry.

Critically acclaimed writers, poets and artists will come to Birmingham, including Saima Mir, Romy Gill, Anita Sethi, Samir Bhamra, Sadia Azmat and Bali Rai. Enjoy author talks, panel discussions, workshops and poetry performances to inspire all young aspirational British Asian writers and creatives.

Birmingham has become a city of regeneration and growth in recent years. It is becoming a hotbed of culture in the UK. The founder of the literature is the UK’s largest online British Asian magazine DESIblitz. Indi Deol is a driving force in this, sitting on the board for Culture Central, the collective voice of the cultural sector in the West Midlands.

Indi wants to open doors for British South Asian writers to be recognised within their own communities and beyond.

There is still a huge lack of diversity in the UK publishing industry. Only 6% come from a South Asian background.
