Lulu Wild: Reviewing Brindley Place’s newest luxurious Chinese food sensation

Whether you’re after a moody corner for a romantic date or somewhere luxurious for a special occasion, if you are a fan of Chinese food, you need to head to Lulu Wild.

Nestled in Brindley Place, a stone’s throw from the likes of Broad Street and Mailbox, you’ll find a modern Chinese restaurant serving up the most exquisite of dishes.

The latest, limited edition menu, ‘Depths of the Oasis’ is Chapter 3 in their Enchanted Tales series, aiming to transport you back to moments spent in the sun, with the waves of the ocean as your background music.

We started with The Tea House Sharer, a tray of steamed dim sum served with black vinegar. The dim sum was XO prawn, crystal vegetable dumpling, scallop shui mai with tobiko and black pepper chicken and each one was cooked to perfection.

For our mains we tried the Roasted Chicken, marinated for 24 hours, in satay sauce and the Mongolian Lamb with cane sugar, light soy and ginger. Both dishes were delicious. You could really taste the flavours. We had them with  the Steamed Jasmine Rice, Pak Choi with Garlic and Stir-fry Tenderstem Broccoli with garlic. Despite the generous potions, we cleared our plates.

I’m not sure how, but we made room for dessert, and I’m so glad we did. The Imperial Garden was a fruity combination of matcha and passionfruit sponge served with the most delicious sorbet on a bed of lime infused vanilla crumble with honey and raspberry compote. We also tried the Mango Pudding which was a delight! Tapioca pearls topped with grapefruit and toasted coconut flakes with a mango sorbet. It tasted just like a tropical holiday.

We washed it all down with some of the best mocktails we’d tasted in a while. The Pearl Tea, with cranberry, lychee and lemon and the Hainan Cooler with watermelon, mint and lime. And of course, we had to try the Deep Blue Sea cocktail from the water menu. A mix of patron silver, coconut and lychee, the colour of it is incredible and it packs a punch!

The staff we’re helpful and friendly, our server couldn’t do enough for us, adding to the inviting atmosphere. Each dish was full of flavour and presented beautifully. The dim sum was a personal highlight, along with the Deep Blue Sea cocktail. We left with full bellies and happy faces, with plans to return very soon.
