Eat The American Dream At The New Smokey Barrels

Eat The American Dream At The New Smokey Barrels

The new Smokey Barrels has arrived on the Coventry Road bringing a bit of Americana to the south of Brum.

Smokey Barrels isn’t here to reproduce the many generic dining experiences you can get around the city. It’s here to shake things up… make a statement and do things differently. Diners can expect a Texan BBQ restaurant with a spicy twist.

Let Smokey Barrels introduce you to the joys of the Smokehaus. It’s so much more than a homestyle barbecue concept. The techniques are bred from the traditions of good old American barbecue developed from the Southern States. The smoke from the burning wood is the essential ingredient to dishes. The meat is lovingly slow cooked over a real wood fire. It infuses the meat with its tone and flavour to create the rich, deep and distinctive smoky taste that makes the barbecue food so authentically mouth-watering.

Using a smoker imported directly from USA they also use real wood to create an authentic smoke flavour including hickory, cherry and whisky oak.

So, roll up those sleeves and get stuck into a menu full of smokehouse favourites… think low and slow ribs, ultimate burgers and rib-eye steaks all straight from the in-house hickory smoker. You can choose from dry rub, smokey bourbon, sticky BBQ or Louisiana hot sauce. Why not enjoy the ‘Smokey’s platter’? A platter of wings done your way, pulled pork, crispy southern fried chicken strips, corn on the cob, onion rings and BBQ pit beans!

You’re also be fighting over the bucket ‘o’ wings like a gunfight at the OK Corral. Devour 12 boned chicken wings dressed in your choice of sticky BBQ, Smokey bourbon glaze or Louisiana hot sauce. If you’re brazen like a true outlaw, why not try the extra hot sauce? Extreme heat… only for the brave!

House favourites include the Texan Glazed Ribs, Tennessee Low ‘n Slow Ribs and St Louis Ribs giving you that Deep South American foodie vibe.

The restaurant has had a £400,000 overhaul and refurbishment and is now the perfect setting for family fun. Think exposed brick, rustic wood features and recycled metal to give it great character. Table tops on top of barrels and high seating gives it a casual and comfy atmosphere.

Owner Harish Nathwani says “The restaurant sits on the site of the old Peachykeens and even though things have been moved around and walls taken out, there is still a cosy charm to the place. Ideal for families, there are also high tables for big groups. A well stocked pub bar, beer promotions and Sky Sports on the big screen.”

The restaurant seats 120 people with views of the open kitchen. The chef team brings together expert skill with the best produce and ingredients from Birmingham and beyond. Using only the finest cuts of meat in all the smoked and spiced dishes the flavours really punch out.

If you want to mix up your flavours don’t worry, you can go Smokey and spicy! The pub menu features all your favourite grills and kebabs from the Tandoor oven so you can still add a bit of spice to your meat feast.
