The Colmore Food Festival is one of a kind and unique in its offering to guests who visit the two day showcase event. Not only is the event completely FREE for visitors to attend, but all dishes are capped at £4, which means you can sample the delights from many of the 33 participating venues. Now in its seventh year, the event attracts more than 30,000 visitors.
Newcomers to the District Gusto, Alchemist, Gaucho and 200 Degrees Coffee will be joining the recently reopened Primitivo at this year’s Colmore Food Festival, where you can enjoy fabulous food, great drinks as well as live music acts and cooking & cocktail demonstrations.
Leading Birmingham chef Glynn Purnell will be making a welcome return this year and will be hosting a cookery demonstration on Festival Friday. Friend and fellow chef Aktar Islam of Nosh & Quaff, Lasan and new restaurant Izza Pizza, will take to the stage on the Saturday of the Festival. Michelin-starred chef Glynn describes Birmingham as ‘the centre of the universe’, and has won numerous awards and national accolades for his contemporary fine dining with an eclectic twist.
Glynn owns two restaurants in Colmore Business District: Purnell’s and Purnell’s Bistro, both of which will be showcased at the Festival. “What’s great about Colmore Food Festival is that it’s in the city centre,” said Glynn. “This is celebrating all things Birmingham, right in the centre of Birmingham, which is the centre of the universe as far as I’m concerned!”
Visit the Festival on Friday 30th June and Saturday 1st July in Victoria Square, Birmingham from 11am-7pm
