On Monday 5 March, Hallfield School raised £150 with a book sale for Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s educational work with children who remain in hospital for extended periods of time.
Over the past week and as part of World Book Day, children of the Upper School at Hallfield have donated a large number of books to the school to sell to their peers for 50p per book.
With many children purchasing a number of books each they managed to raise £150 to give to the hospital.
In addition, and due to popular demand, Senior Teacher and Head of Modern Languages also revived her bilingual reading group during break times, where a number of eager youngsters read ‘Le Rocher Rouge’ (The Red Rock) in French.
Speaking of the book sale, Mrs Checketts, said: “We’re delighted to have been able to raise funds for the patients at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and what better way to do it than a book sale! The children here at Hallfield love to read so we knew it would be a success.”
