OSCARS, EMMYS, EWOKS: STAR WARS AT BIRMINGHAM SYMPHONY HALL

This October, Birmingham’s Symphony Hall will be transformed into a galaxy far, far away as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) performs the original Star Wars trilogy live on screen with John Williams’ Oscar®-winning score played by a colossal 90-piece orchestra.

For three nights only, audiences can relive George Lucas’ masterpieces as they were meant to be experienced, with every lightsaber duel, starship chase and epic moment underscored by one of the greatest film soundtracks ever written.

The CBSO, in collaboration with esk, will celebrate the visual and symphonic success of Lucas’ three-part epic, screening it in-full with a synchronised, orchestral rendition of John Williams’ OSCAR®-winning score, in the iconic Symphony Hall.

The weekend programme includes:

–       Friday 24th October: A New Hope

–       Saturday 25th October: The Empire Strikes Back

–       Sunday 26th October: Return of the Jedi

Whether people make it to every or any screening, the force and might of the CBSO is not to be missed.

Emma Stenning, Chief Executive at the CBSO agrees:

“Star Wars continues to thrill fans across generations, and the opportunity to experience them with a full orchestra will be a truly unforgettable experience. For one weekend, the Birmingham Symphony Hall will be the destination for all those who cherish George Lucas’ work as much as we do.

The ripple effects of Star Wars can still be felt across both film and modern classical music, and as accolades are set to be handed out to the industries’ current stars, this is an opportunity to honour one of the cornerstones of modern picture. We look forward to welcoming lifelong fans, or maybe even those being introduced to the magic of Star Wars for the very first time.”

Ticket packages are available, with 10% off when booking two concerts and 15% off when booking all three. Tickets range from £32 to £94.50 including fees, with tickets already selling fast.

The concerts are a part of the CBSO’s new 2025–26 season, which bridges classical tradition and contemporary culture. Other highlights include Best of Bond, Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush with live orchestra, and Symphonic Queen.
