Inspired by the “Beer Houses” of the 1830’s Pint shop opened its doors in Birmingham last month bringing with it an impressive selection of craft beers and freshly prepared food.
Situated on Bennett’s Hill, the listed building is as impressive as their beer selection with the downstairs serving bar food moving up to a dining room upstairs. Sourcing produce from the local region their menu offers diners a real treat from Head Chef, Mark Walsh
Starters include an Onion Bhaji Scotch Egg with Mango Chutney (that is already proving to be a top seller), Octopus Carpaccio, Confit Shallots, Lime and Crispy Seaweed and Roasted Roots & Beets, Linseed Cracker and Fresh Cheese were all particular favourites at a recent tasting session.

For mains we loved the Overnight Pork Belly, Crackling, Roasted Cauliflower and Piquant Sauce and the Pint Shop Dirty Burger with Bacon Jam, Burger Sauce and Smoked Cheese, was as dirty as it sounds. Moving on to the Coal-Baked Flatbreads we absolutely loved the Tandoori masala Chicken with Toasted Almonds, just the right hint of spice and the almonds add great texture and taste.
The menu has plenty of choice on sides and desserts and some very tasty vegetarian options too, we recommend the Grilled Aubergine, Chickpea Tagine with Dhakka and Chermoula.
If you are looking to book something for the festive season, they have a great menu on offer. No pre-ordering is needed, just book your table, turn up and make your selection there and then! For more on their Christmas and New Year menus visit them at www.pintshop.com.
