From Friday 24 November, the beloved vintage ride will be open again at the Transport Museum. The sleigh ride housed for over 60 years at the city’s Co-op is now a firm festive fixture at the museum so new generations of children can enjoy this unique dash of Christmas magic.
Visitors can take a sleigh ride through a snowy landscape, meet Santa, tell him their Christmas wishes and receive a special gift.
The sleigh ride is massively popular with families eager to rekindle childhood nostalgia and make new Christmas memories to cherish. Features being introduced this year to help with demand include timed ticket slots and a Christmas craft zone on selected dates.
Also new this year are Relaxed Early Sessions on selected dates aimed at those who have additional needs and would benefit from a low sensory offer.
Organisers are encouraging families to come early and beat the rush, as the sleigh ride is open daily from 10.00am until 4.30pm from Friday 24 November until Saturday 23 December. The ride is open in term time which is an ideal quieter time to bring pre-schoolers to enjoy their visit with Santa. And if you’re planning to do a little Christmas shopping before you visit there are a number of later openings, last admission 5.30pm.
Tickets for children (including sleigh ride, meeting Santa and gift) are £5, with up to two accompanying adults £1.50. Adult tickets are £4 with no gift or £5 with gift – so everyone can join in the fun and refresh their memories of this unique ride, unchanged since its original construction in the 1960s.
