First Look at Birmingham’s Newly Renovated Rouge Restaurant.

After undergoing an extensive re-brand, Rouge has opened the doors to its brand new concept restaurant in the Bullring this week. As the first Midlands-based site to serve up a refreshed interior and a variety of French-inspired menu options, the venue is reopening to the public from 16th March.

Having welcomed hundreds of thousands of customers for almost two decades, the former Café Rouge was one of the Bullring’s first restaurant residents; renowned for serving up classic dishes with a Parisian flair. Following its extensive renovation, the 143-person capacity restaurant will be open seven days a week to diners and boasts a re-vamped outdoor terrace, ample indoor restaurant seating and upper-level dining that is available for private hire.

Continuing to celebrate the best of French cuisine, Executive Chef Bruno Balle has expertly crafted Rouge’s new menu so that guests will be able to enjoy a variety of classic dishes, reimagined with a modern twist; from Rouge’s cult-favourite scallop starter – baked in garlic and parsley butter with parmesan crumb – to new, vegan-friendly dishes including cauliflower steak with harissa hummus, toasted chickpeas and pomegranate and a stacked Beyond Meat pretzel burger.

Speaking about what Birmingham can expect from the reimagined venue, Steve Worrall – Chief Operating Officer at Rouge – commented:

“We’re delighted to be opening the doors to our newest Rouge restaurant in Birmingham this week. Home to one of the best food and drink scenes in the UK, Birmingham was the obvious choice for our first Midlands-based opening.

“We couldn’t be prouder of our long-standing team as they prepare to welcome both our frequent guests and new customers into our new-look restaurant. Rouge will provide its guests with a modern slice of Parisian culture and cuisine: we are really proud of what we are bringing to the city and to be part of the growth of its F&B sector in 2022!”

With General Manager Thamir Abdul Hameed – who has worked within the company for 14 years – at the helm, the Bullring team are extremely proud to be an integral part of Rouge’s Birmingham launch.

“We’re so pleased to be bringing Rouge to life in the Bullring this spring. As well as introducing new products such as our signature Champagne cocktail range, we’ve also retained guest favourites such as the Beef Bourguignon and Moules Marinières; I am certain that we have something for every palate and every occasion.”

“I’m so proud of our entire team and are confident that they will continue to deliver an incredibly high standard of service and I’m really excited to raise a glass (or two!) with Birmingham,” added Thamir.

Founded in 1989, Café Rouge is owned by Big Table Group, which operate more than 150 restaurants across the UK and Ireland. Rouge Birmingham will be open seven days a week and will begin serving from 16 March.
