Businesses, residents and students are being encouraged to attend a community litter picking event in the Jewellery Quarter.
As part of World Cleanup Day 2018, the Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District (JQBID) is organising an event on Saturday 15 September, between 10:00 and 12:00.
Luke Crane, JQBID Director comments: “Keeping the Jewellery Quarter clean and litter-free is one of our core aims. Our dedicated Clean Team works on a daily basis to maintain the street scene for the benefit of our businesses, residents and students.
“In support of World Cleanup Day, we want as many volunteers to join our Clean Team at our community litter picking event. Millions of volunteers in 150 countries are uniting to clean up the world in a single day. By getting involved, you’ll not only make a real difference to your local environment but will be part of a global movement striving for a cleaner future.”
Volunteers will meet outside The Big Peg building on Golden Square (B18 6NF) for equipment and a safety briefing. All materials will be provided including high visibility vests, gloves, litter pickers and plastic bags. Refreshments will be provided.
