For one year only, the Belgrade Theatre is looking for amateur adult dancers to be part of the chorus of their legendary pantomime. This year it’s Beauty and the Beast (oh, yes it is!).
They’re looking for local amateur dancers and performers, aged 18 and over, to join the chorus of Coventry’s favourite pantomime. A rare opportunity for Coventry and Warwickshire’s amateur performers, the Belgrade will be looking for the area’s brightest performers and dancers, including drama students and members of community theatre groups.
The audition panel will be looking for talented individuals who show huge enthusiasm and fantastic dance and performance ability.
Candidates must be 18 years old or over, fully vaccinated against Covid-19, and available for rehearsals and performances from early November to early January. Candidates must also have reliable transport and must live in the Coventry or Warwickshire area.
Usually, the Belgrade’s panto chorus is made up of the youthful energy of Coventry’s budding child performers. However, this year, with Equity’s permission, they’re taking a new approach to ensure the safety of the production.
Hopeful candidates are being asked to submit a self tape featuring a dance no longer than one minute (and any tricks you may have!) by Friday 20 August at 5pm. A shortlist of candidates will then be invited to an in-person recall at the Belgrade Theatre in September.
Iain Lauchlan, Coventry’s favourite panto dame (as well as the writer and director of the Belgrade’s panto), said: “This is a great opportunity to join the Belgrade’s panto team and one which Equity has given us full support on. We will miss our usual youngsters, but look forward to welcoming them back the following year. We’re just very excited to be able to offer a LIVE performance this year.”
