Turtle Bay Talent Spotters Fill 68 New Jobs in Coventry Recruitment Drive

A new Coventry restaurant and bar is thrilled to announce that their recent recruitment drive has resulted in 68 people successfully finding new jobs with the Caribbean restaurant, Turtle Bay, ahead of its launch in August – with more jobs to come!

The Caribbean restaurant and bar, which already has venues in Birmingham and Leicester, held a recruitment day with a difference at the city’s Ramada Hotel recently with in-house talent spotters on the lookout for stars.

Recruiters created a fun-day of informal interviews, psychometric testing and a chance to pitch to the Turtle Bay management team – all designed to showcase candidates’ personalities and abilities.

And it is clearly a recipe for success, with 68 of the 138 candidates successfully securing roles for the new opening, the Turtle Bay talent spotters revealed.

Candidates were able to embrace the Turtle Bay spirit as soon as they arrived, with the space reflective of the atmosphere you would find in one of their restaurants.  In addition, everyone was welcomed to the venue within a specific timeslot, signed in and given a name tag whilst being briefed on the COVID-secure measures that were in place throughout their time with the Turtle Bay team.

Guy Clark, General Manager at Turtle Bay Coventry, said: “It was great to see so many in the city engaging with the Recruitment Days and we met some fantastic people along the way.  The standard was exceptionally high, so it made our job even more difficult when selecting the successful candidates.

“Everyone from the mangers to the front of house team are vital in creating “Caribbean good times” within our venues and we are very much looking forward to getting the team in place and fully trained ahead of the opening in August!”

Feedback from some of the candidates highlighted how much they enjoyed the 1-2-1 interviews and sales pitch.  They also commented on how friendly and welcoming the team were, easing their nerves.

Successful candidate Mariam commented: “I was a bit nervous before I arrived, but that soon disappeared as everyone was so nice!  I thought the whole experience was great – even though it was an interview, I found it fun!”

This will be the first site in Coventry for Turtle Bay, which is renowned for its Caribbean good times – social, warm atmosphere and vibrant design, serving delicious Caribbean inspired dishes and signature cocktails throughout the day and into the evening. From jerk chicken to fiery goat curry, vegan dishes packed with punchy Caribbean flavour, delicious desserts – and one of the best bottomless brunch offers out there – you’ll find something for everyone at Turtle Bay.

Turtle Bay Coventry will open to the public this August and will be situated at Unit 9, Cathedral Lanes, Coventry CV1.

A further recruitment day will be taking place at the Ramada Hotel, Coventry on Wednesday 14th July.  Anyone interested in attending should email: [email protected]
