An Indian Summer Festival coming to Leicester this weekend!

Head to Curve Theatre & Leicester’s Orton Square for An Indian Summer this Saturday (20 August). Expect an entire day filled with music, dance, workshops, culture, and food! A perfect day for the entire family to enjoy as the summer holidays slowly come to an end.

What’s happening out on Orton Square?

The Indian Festival’s main stage is located on Orton Square. Expect music and performances throughout the day here. The famous Holi performance from local group Nupur Arts is definitely something you do not want to miss! Back from Glastonbury and Bestival this summer, The Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band as well as the Dhol Players and Band Baja team will get everyone in the festival mood!

The Curve will be providing an outdoor bar and food vendors will be available too. Kayal, Herb and Desi Street will showcase South Indian cuisine at its finest, coupled with mouth-watering Mumbai street food.

There’s loads of great stuff happening in Curve for An Indian Summer this weekend! They will be keeping everyone busy indoors with free henna, a chance to learn about and try on saris, sensory storytelling and arts and crafts.

For the knowledge seekers and cultural enthusiasts

Forward Culture will be hosting an event called BrownGirl Via East Africa with exciting speakers. Dance performances as part of On The Hour: Dance Kahanyan celebrates an international project that brings together two world-renowned choreographers and dancers.

The day will end with a must-see performance from Talvin Singh. Critically acclaimed Mercury Prize winner and raised the calibre of British South Asian music in the 90s.
