West Indies and international cricketing legends, Sir Andy Roberts, Sir Curtly Ambrose, Sir Viv Richards and Sir Richie Richardson completed their UK tour by visiting Leicester to celebrate Antiguan and Barbudan culture in the city, as well as promote an incredible year of cricket for their home nation.

After visiting the likes of Lord’s in London, Glasgow’s iconic Drygate Brewery and Headingley in Leeds, the Cricketing Knights completed five days of a whirlwind tour of the UK in Leicester on 26 April. The Knights held a fascinating Q&A session with journalists and members of the Leicester community in St. Martin’s House, hosted by DJ and Caribbean music and culture specialist, Martin Abraham.

The four former West Indies internationals shared fond memories and stories before visiting the Foxes ground at Grace Road the following day to watch the County Championship game against Northamptonshire.

Leicestershire CCC legend Andy Roberts accepted his county cap, personalised with number 289, from Club Chairman John Thorpe to recognise the fast bowler’s extraordinary contribution to cricket on both international and county stages.

Sir Andy told press: “I really enjoyed playing here at Grace Road over the years. I made some good friends, and as you’ve seen a lot of people remember the good times that I gave them while I was here.”

The four cricketing knights’ tour of the UK is to promote the year of cricket in Antigua & Barbuda. The twin island nation will be hosting eight matches of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup from 1-29 June 2024.

Beyond the men’s world cup, Antigua & Barbuda will be hosting the FairBreak Women’s T20 event in July as well as home matches for the Falcons at the upcoming CPL24 from August.
