There can be no denying that cooking is hard work. This is especially true when you have had a long day in the sun, the last thing you may want to do is slave over the stove cooking a meal. It can be all too tempting to reach for the takeaway menu – but why not save some money and try these tips to make cooking as enjoyable and fast as possible.
Make your cooking triangle as efficient as possible
A way you can make cooking more efficient is by optimising your cooking triangle. This for the average person will consist of a stove, sink, and fridge. Make sure these are always easily accessible, free from clutter and kept clean to make the process as efficient as possible.
Be sure to treat yourself to all the right equipment for your kitchen
Invest in some good quality equipment for your kitchen, such as some frying pans or a new knife, to make cooking more enjoyable. There is nothing worse than using a blunt knife for cooking – it can add time and actually be more dangerous than using a sharp knife. Likewise, buying a new frying pan that is big enough to cook dishes that is big enough to cook dishes in bulk could be another smart investment, to save you time throughout the week so you don’t need to cook recipes from scratch as often.
Cook more international recipes to try different cultures’ foods
Tring some new recipes such as international dishes can be a great way to try new foods, and methods of cooking. You never know – you may find your new favourite dish! Aim to dedicate two nights a week to international recipes and try to choose a different recipe each night.
Create a competition between family and friends for who can make the best dish
A fun way to make cooking more enjoyable is to host a competition amongst family or friends and see who can make the best dish. This could be similar to come dine with me, in which one night a week you have dinner at an individual’s house, and they cooking a meal that you can all rate and try. Not only does this get you out of having to cook for the night, but it is also a great way to socialise and see friends and family, as well as have a light-hearted competition.
