A Nottingham wine expert is popping the cork on her new tasting business, encouraging guests to try something new and find out a little bit more about what they’re drinking.
Mhairi Pole was inspired to launch her wine tasting company, Uncorked Stories, after spending time in the vineyards of France and she is now sharing what she has learned at private parties and corporate events.
These events can be based upon a number of different themes from seasonal party drinks to food and wine pairings and they will all feature wines that are not currently available on the high street or at local supermarkets.
Mhairi said: “I set up Uncorked Stories because I really wanted my guests to try uniquely sourced wine and while they enjoy a tipple or two, I chat to them about what they’re drinking, where it’s from, share a few facts and add some of my own experiences into the mix.
“A winemaker once told me that the environment in which you drink wine and who you drink it with, affects the enjoyment. This is at the heart of Uncorked Stories, I want to provide an enjoyable, relaxed and fun experience for my guests, so they truly appreciate the wine they are drinking.”
The idea behind Uncorked Stories is to encourage people to be a little bit braver and try something different to their ‘usual’ at the bar or pick up from the supermarket.
To make the events a breeze for guests to organise, Mhairi not only brings the wines, she also brings with her everything from the glasses to a mini fridge.
Mhairi added: “I can come to your home or your chosen venue and add some entertainment, it really is a great way to get a party started or impress your clients at Christmas. I love hosting events and celebrations and can do everything from a group of friends getting together to hen dos and company socials.
“I can even help you find the best wine to have with your turkey on Christmas Day and how to get your party going with recommendations on the best fizz around.”
Mhairi’s expert and first-hand knowledge of the wine industry is backed up by a WSET qualification from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust.
