2018 Leicestershire County Show ensures access for all

Organisers of this year’s Leicestershire County Show have taken every step to ensure that the event is accessible to all, from disabled visitors to families to dog owners.

The two day event returns to Market Harborough for the third consecutive year during the August bank holiday weekend.

The space available at the purpose-built site not only allows for a vast number of visitors to attend, it also means that show organisers can ensure that the ground and events are fully accessible to those with disabilities or mobility issues and families with small children and dogs.

There will be a disabled car park located closest to the showground and a designated gate for those with disabilities to access the event easily. People can also hire mobility scooters or manual wheelchairs from Shopmobility in return for a donation of £25 or £10 for the day by booking in advance. Carers will be given free access to the event.

Leicestershire County Show Director David Young comments, “We are passionate about making the Leicestershire County Show an event everyone can attend and enjoy. Not only does our large site with its ample parking facilities allow everyone to get into the showground in a stress-free manner, our facilities also make it possible for us to achieve our aim of offering an enjoyable day out to those with disabilities or health issues that limit their mobility.”

In addition, all the family, including well-behaved dogs are welcome at the event. “We are lucky that our generous amount of space means that unlike some other county shows in the UK, we are able to accommodate pet dogs at the showground. After all, without them, we wouldn’t be able to have our highly popular dog show!” adds David. “The Leicestershire County Show is a celebration of country life and as pet dogs are an integral part of that, we feel it’s important to include them in our event. All we ask is that owners keep their dogs on leads at all times and clear up after them. We also encourage families with children to some along for a fabulous day out by offering free entry to accompanied children under 14.”

The Leicestershire County Show will combine traditional agricultural events with adrenalin-fuelled excitement for all the family including a fun fair, classic car rally and tractor rally. Organisers are hoping to exceed last year’s record breaking attendance of 13,000 people over the weekend with a jam-packed schedule.

This year’s highlights will include spectacular displays from the RAF Falcons on both days and quad bike displays by Guinness World Record breaker Matt “Kangaroo Kid” Coulter. Also new for 2018 is the Mounted Games of Great Britain, who will wow the crowds with their high-speed competitive games on ponies. There will also be a large choice of trade exhibitors and over 100 craft stalls.

The Leicestershire County Show takes place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August. Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 at the gate per adult, per day. Accompanied children under 14 and dogs are free.
