Countdown to ChocFest

Chocolate lovers to head to Melton Mowbray – the UK’s Chocolate Capital – from 18-19 November 2017

Melton Mowbray is known as the home of the pork pie and Stilton cheese but if the organisers of this month’s ChocFest have their way, the town is set to become the UK’s Chocolate Capital.

ChocFest is a festival for all things chocolate and will take place at the Melton Mowbray Livestock Market from 18-19 November 2017. In only its second year, ChocFest is already gathering a reputation amongst chocolatiers and chocolate lovers alike.

Around 30 of the UK’s leading chocolatiers will be at the event, complemented by around 100 stands selling all things chocolate including chocolate cakes, brownies, liqueurs, marshmallows, biscuits, macarons, donuts, crepes, ice cream, puddings, hot chocolate, and even chocolate wine, beer and pizzas. There will also be other seasonal food and drink stands.

For those who fancy themselves as budding chocolatiers, there are 12 workshops bookable in advance at www.ukchocfest.co.uk to make your own lollies, wreaths and truffles ready for Christmas, run by award-winning, Leicester-based chocolatier, Cocoa Amore. These are complemented by a full programme of talks, tastings and demonstrations.

Organiser Matthew O’Callaghan, who used to work in an institute growing cocoa beans in Central America said: “We’ve really had a great response from exhibitors and public alike. We reckon that our ChocFest will be the largest chocolate festival in the whole of the UK. Who’d have thought that? Melton Mowbray – the UK Chocolate Capital!”

ChocFest will run from 10am to 4pm on 18-19 November. Tickets are priced at £5 (£4 in advance). Children under 16 enter free. Advance tickets are on sale from the Visit Leicester centre in Leicester and Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe in Melton Mowbray, or online from www.ukchocfest.co.uk
