Women of the East Midlands are to be celebrated with the launch of the inaugural East Midlands Women’s Awards (EMWA).
The aim of the EMWA is to recognise women who live and work in the counties that make up the East Midlands: Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottingham, Rutland, and Northamptonshire. These are women who, through their outstanding activities across a wide range of sectors, make a significant contribution to the development and economic stability of their region.
The inaugural gala ceremony will take place on Friday 22nd September 2017 at the Falcon Hotel, Market Place, Uppingham. There are 10 categories up for grabs which will reflect activities across the social spectrum, from ambitious entrepreneurs to community champions and Market Town Leader. All for girl power, dluxe LEICESTERSHIRE & RUTLAND will be acting as official media partner on this exciting event.
Founder, Sandra Pollock said; “The East Midlands is full of high-achieving women working in all sectors, yet we lack a regional celebration or recognition of this. Women make an outstanding contribution to our economy, innovation, creativity, community or towards business development. Statistic show regional employment is above the National average and the number of hours women put in slightly less than that of their male counterparts. Acknowledging women’s efforts will provide aspiration for further achievement.”
The event will be fundraising for two charities in the region. There will also be raffles prizes one the night.
