Award-winning Leicester restaurant Maiyango to serve its ‘last supper’ before re-opening in August 2017 as unique, new concept restaurant.
Leicester’s dining out scene is set for a major transformation this summer as the AA rosette Maiyango Restaurant closes its doors for the final time on 22 July 2017, to return as an exciting, brand new concept restaurant in August 2017.
Maiyango Head Chef, Salvatore Tassari has delved deep into the archives and created a special ‘Best of Maiyango’ menu for all to enjoy their favourite dishes and celebrate a successful 12 years. Since opening in 2005, Maiyango Restaurant has served over 150,000 diners and mixed over 300,000 cocktails.
Maiyango has organised a series of special tasting events in the restaurant before it officially closes. These include a Gin Dinner, a Wine Tasting Menu and Dessert and Cocktail Evenings.

The new restaurant will be unique to Leicester city centre and will continue in the same location under the successful Maiyango brand. There will be a short period of refurbishment between the closure of the existing site and the opening of the new restaurant. During this time, Hotel Maiyango and the Tasting Room will continue to trade as usual.

During the last 12 years, Maiyango has won several awards including an AA Rosette Award for Culinary Excellence, has appeared in The Good Food Guide and was a national tourism award Gold winner in the Taste of England category in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence. Maiyango has also catered for the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh and the Duchess of Cambridge during the Diamond Jubilee royal visit to Leicester.
