Celebrating 150 years standing proud in the heart of our city, Everards is marking this special clock tower’s birthday with a commemorative beer and a proper birthday bash down the pub!
Everards love celebrating all that is Leicestershire and the Clock Tower which has stood in the heart of the city centre is a huge part of the story of this great city and worth celebrating in the best way Everards can – with a beer! The tower has been an iconic landmark and lively meeting place in the city since 1868, that’s 150 years – imagine the stories it could tell.
“Meet you at the Clock Tower… I remember being the key phrase of my youth, from shopping to first dates and night’s out! Before mobile phones were invented a meeting place was crucial and even now I meet friends and family there, it’s such an iconic Leicester landmark. I love the buzz that surrounds the Clock Tower” local resident Charlotte Goulding reflects on what the Clock Tower means to her.
The Clock Tower celebrates the steely determination of four local benefactors Simon De Montfort, William Wyggeston, Sir Thomas White Alderman and Gabriel Newton who stand on the four corners of the monument.
In celebration of these hard-working men and their contributions to the city, we are bringing back our limited edition beer ‘Clock Tower’. A deep golden ale brewed with four types of hops which praises the men’s determined character. You’ll get a fruity aroma of berry and citrus with blackcurrant and delicate caramel on the finish. It is a great accompaniment to grilled pork chops, fish or a Waldorf salad.
Clock Tower will be available in many Everards pubs across the Midlands throughout January – So get down your local, lift your glass and raise a toast to 150 years – happy birthday Clock Tower!
