HAIKUS FOR LEICESTER, IN THE MIDDLE OF LOCKDOWN, WE SHOULD SUPPORT THIS

What better, creative way to capture the experience of lockdown than with an artform that celebrates structure- the Haiku! Leicester’s David Pepworth has written one of these tiny poems, each made up of just  three lines of 5, 7 and 5 syllables and is now putting them all together in a book which is currently crowdfunding. Inspired by COVID-19 and the impact it has had on all our lives, some of the poems are funny whilst others are heart-breaking. All of them though are insightful.

Here’s one of our favourites:

Is this the middle,

Are we almost there, or still

Near the beginning.
