Leicestershire cancer research charity Hope Against Cancer delivered a stunning ceremony to rival the Oscars this month. The charity, which works tirelessly to fund vital research into cancer, hosted a Moulin Rouge-themed ball at Winstanley House near the centre of Leicester, which raised an impressive £15,000.
The sold-out event hosted its own casino, Chica Bonita dancers, and live music, complete with a three-course buffet meal. Attendees also donated through purchasing raffle tickets and by taking part in a charity auction. The £15,000 raised by the Ball will enable Hope Against Cancer to continue its work into researching cancer from its Leicestershire research centre, with early detection, treatment and prevention of cancer being the charity’s main priorities.
Hope Against Cancer Chief Executive, Nigel Rose, said: “I cannot praise the Hope Against Cancer team enough for the success of our Moulin Rouge Ball. We’re so grateful for the generosity of everyone who attended and donated – without their support, we would not be able to carry out the vital research that we do. It was so great to see everyone there enjoy themselves for such a great cause.”
Hope Against Cancer is also incredibly grateful to the businesses from across the region which were keen to show their support through sponsorships and donations.
Businesses such as Next, Marsh & Co Insurers, PRP Consulting Engineers & Surveyors, NFU Mutual, Sandicliffe, Kazzoo IT, Griffin Fit, Glynis Wright & Co., Niche Magazine, Newby Castleman, Leicestershire Garden Design Co., Eileen Richards Recruitment, Narborough Hall and Premier Events have all sponsored or supported the Moulin Rouge ball. With thanks to these wonderful businesses, Hope Against Cancer has been able to host yet another successful fundraising event.
The Ball comes at a particularly significant time for the charity. This year marks its 15th anniversary and a number of events are currently being put together to celebrate the charity’s work over the years. Further details will be released in April and Hope Against Cancer is keen to showcase the achievements they’ve had during that time in making a positive difference to local cancer patients.
