YMCA Leicestershire’s The Big Give Campaign will help support young people who are ready to move into their own independent accommodation.
A bit about the Big Give…
The Big Give Campaign sees businesses and individuals donate to support projects that YMCA Leicestershire is fundraising for and those donations are doubled through the Big Give’s match funding platform.
Due to the tough housing climate, young people’s lives are on hold due to a lack of appropriate places to live, even when they are ready to move on from YMCA, meaning supported housing then can’t help others in crisis.
To give young people a fair chance to settle in a safe and happy home of their own after leaving, YMCA will introduce a resettlement coach who can support them in their new home, and create a deposit bursary to enable access to private housing, as well as help source furniture and a gift pack of essentials.
For 2023, YMCA’s total project target is £18,000. They have secured £6,000 in pledges from local businesses and a further pledge of £3,000 from a Champion Funder, creating a matching pot of £9,000.
During The Christmas Challenge week (28 November to 5 December), YMCA Leicestershire will gather online donations from other businesses and supporters. Each donation will be doubled by the matching pot.
