Intergenerational community gospel choir launches in Leicester

A brand new, intergenerational gospel choir launches this month in Leicester.

The Clarendon Congregational Gospel Singers is a new music program open to singers aged 10 and above.

Local entertainer and singing tutor Lizzy Rushby will be leading the program, which is generously subsidised by the Clarendon Park Congregational Church.

Lizzy tell us “I’m very excited to be launching this new choir, we’ve already had interest from parents who are looking for an activity they can do with their older children or their younger teens, I’m hoping we’ll bring lots of people together and have fun learning some of the gospel music greats .”

John Bentham, minister at the Clarendon Park Congregational Church explains “Gospel music continues to be popular. We’re delighted to be giving people the opportunity to learn this much loved genre of music and build a new community of singers here is Leicester.”

There is no audition and no requirement to read music. Participation in the program is just £10 a month. The first session takes place on Monday the 5th of February 6-7pm in Clarendon Park.
