LOOK INSIDE THIS DUBAI-INSPIRED SHOWHOME IN LEICESTER

OK we might be a bit weird but one of our favourite rainy day past times per COVID-19 was looking around showhomes for a little interior design inspiration. So are itch was scratched Miller Homes opened the virtual doors to its latest showhome in Leicestershire, the five-bedroom Honeybourne at the newly launched Regal View neighbourhood on Oaks Road, Great Glen.

Andy Richardson, managing director at Edward Thomas Interiors, takes us on a virtual tour of the new showhome, discussing the exotic inspiration behind the styling and sharing his tips for how homeowners can recreate the look in their own home.

Magnificent kitchen

One of the focal points of this property is the superb kitchen, which also doubles as a family room with the addition of a corner sofa. This is a fantastic, bright space that we’ve been able to transform into the real hub of the home.

The corner sofa makes an impressive seating area, ideal for relaxing or entertaining while a six-seater circular dining table sits opposite the breakfast bar.

The colour palette includes navy blues, light greys and gold, creating a real sense of elegance.

Dining room

Sliding doors from the kitchen reveal a separate formal dining room, which includes a feature wall with wallpaper inspired by the local Wistow Maze.

The combination of the warm walnut table and gold furnishings, extravagant chandelier and dark blue walls add a touch of opulence to the space too.

Lounge

In the lounge, there are two bespoke velvet sofas in navy blue, alongside a third grey sofa in the bay window. Flanked by gold mirrors which help to maximise the room’s natural light, extra touches such as the gold tray on the footstool and bronze corner tables help to tie the whole look together adding an extra stroke of luxury.

Study

This study is extremely versatile – a room for any purpose, whether working from home, relaxing or honing a hobby. We wanted to really showcase all the different ways you could use the space so you’ll see an eye-catching marble-effect desk area, cosy chair by the bay window for reading and an upcycled piano.

The kaleidoscope-style feature wallpaper also mimics popular patterns typically used in Emirate interiors – one of the main inspirations behind the overall home’s style, following a visit to the United Arab Emirates by one of our team members.

Principal bedroom

The principal bedroom is a continuation of the themes of regal elegance echoed downstairs and features mirrored furniture, including a vanity area, triple wardrobe and crystal hanging bedside lights. The headboard is also a subtle nod to an archetypal Dubai Skyline.

Bedroom two

Bedroom two features a decorative arch headboard, two upholstered buttoned ottomans and a chandelier over the double bed. The dark khaki walls and dark marbled lampshades create a cosy, and inviting aesthetic.

Bedroom three

Bedroom three is ideal for a teenager, and pays homage to the local football club, Leicester City. A framed shirt and club accessories can be found here together with a striped feature wall and football pitch mural

Bedroom four

Bedroom four features a space theme with character spacemen, rockets and a celestial wallpapered ceiling complete with planets and stars. This room is a great example of not being afraid to be daring. Wallpapering the ceiling, for example, gives the room some depth and texture, while also providing something special to enjoy while lying in bed.

Bedroom five

This bedroom appeals to a younger family member and takes inspiration from Disney’s Lady and the Tramp. We designed a hand-painted mural of the forest and woodland, which covers two walls.

If you’d like to have a go at recreating this look, dare to be different by starting a sketch on a plain wall, instead of simply opting for a neutral wall. Be creative with your wallpaper and paints, consider feature walls, half height walls and even ceilings as mentioned above. There are plenty of tutorial videos or stick-on murals to buy or replicate online, and a child’s room is the perfect space to have a little fun.

We also added further accessories including soft toys and a reading corner – perfect for story time at the end of the day.
